Caribbean Organic Herbal Tea

Head spinning, sinus aching, tummy trouble? 10 out of 10 times, in a Caribbean household someone is going to tell you to "Go drink some Tea".

West Indians love to drink tea.

We are especially drawn to making our tea from whatever fresh herbs and spices we can easily pick from right outside our windows.

Nothing beats steeping fresh herbs and getting its numerous benefits while being delicious. Popularly known to us as "bush teas", these caffeine free teas are also known for their native uses.

• Ginger is great for any type of nausea  and helps to reduce muscle pains. 
• Garlic aids in combating the common cold and reduces blood pressure. 
• Bay leaf is a great source of Vitamin A and C among others. 
• Cloves assists in digestion, boosting the immune system,  protecting the liver and a host of other benefits. 
• Turmeric (not pictured) is a great anti-inflammatory.

Once you find a combination of herbs that you love (there are so many possible combinations), I say go for it!!.

Yes, there are the benefits, but I can assure you the taste is going to be the most important thing.


As much as I roll my eyes at my mom for always suggesting I fix some herbal tea whenever I am not feeling 100%. I must confess that it does provide relief. Whether it be a physical or mental.

This tea can also be easily transformed into an "iced" version. Just double the herbs when boiling and pour over ice.
