Caribbean boiled dumplings

Caribbean boiled dumplings are a popular type of dumpling commonly found in the Caribbean region. They are made by mixing flour, salt, and water to form a dough, which is then rolled into small balls and boiled in water until they are cooked through.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Water for boiling
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • A pinch or two of salt for boiling

Method
 

  1. Combine flour and salt.
  2. Add water to flour to form a smooth ball. Start adding 1/4 cup of water at a time and knead together till a smooth ball is formed. Up to 1 cup of water.
  3. Cover dough ball and set aside.
  4. Bring water to boil in a large deep pot with oil and pinches of salt.
  5. Separate dough into smaller balls, then flatten into discs. (or roll into logs)
  6. Once water is boiling, add discs into the water one by one and give it a stir.
  7. Let dumplings boil until they float to the top of the water. About 5-7 minutes.
  8. Strain water off of dumplings and serve.
