Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, combine flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
Incorporate butter: Rub butter into the flour using your fingers or a pastry blender until fully mixed.
Add water gradually and knead dough until smooth and elastic, about 10 minutes.
First rise: Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp towel, and let rise for 45 minutes.
Punch down the dough and transfer to a lightly floured surface.
Roll out into a rectangle, then tightly roll into a log. Tuck the ends under if needed to fit your loaf pan.
Second rise: Place rolled dough in a greased bread pan and let rise for 30 minutes.
Brush the top with beaten egg white.
Bake for 30–40 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool before slicing.
