Ponche de Creme (Punch ah creme)

Ponche de Creme is a popular Caribbean holiday drink, often compared to eggnog or coquito. This creamy rum-based punch is infused with lime peel, cinnamon, and nutmeg—perfect served over crushed ice during the festive season.

Ingredients
  

  • 9 eggs
  • 5 tins condensed milk
  • 1 bottle white rum 750 ml
  • Rind of 1 green lime
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon grated nutmeg
  • 3-4 dashes Angostura bitters
  • ½ cup hot water

Method
 

  1. Pour hot water over the lime peel and set aside to steep.
  2. Beat eggs until light and fluffy.
  3. Add condensed milk, rum, and the infused lime water (strain if needed).
  4. Stir in cinnamon, nutmeg, and bitters.
  5. Mix everything together thoroughly until well combined.
  6. Pour into clean, sterilized bottles and refrigerate.
  7. Serve chilled over crushed ice.
