Ingredients
  

  • 8 cups flour
  • 2 ½ cups water hot
  • 1 tablespoon shortening
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon instant yeast

Method
 

  1. Melt shortening in hot water.
  2. In a large bowl combine 5 cups of flour, salt, sugar, and yeast
  3. Gradually add liquid (it should be lukewarm by now) to the dry ingredients.
  4. Knead for about 5 minutes then add the balance of the flour) to make a stiff dough.
  5. Once combined, place in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise until doubled.
  6. Punch the dough down, and form it into dinner roll balls (like about 3-4”)
  7. Place on a greased baking tray, cover with a damp cloth and allow to rise again until doubled.
  8. Bake in a preheated oven at 400 degrees for about 15 - 20 minutes.
