Melt shortening in hot water.
In a large bowl combine 5 cups of flour, salt, sugar, and yeast
Gradually add liquid (it should be lukewarm by now) to the dry ingredients.
Knead for about 5 minutes then add the balance of the flour) to make a stiff dough.
Once combined, place in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise until doubled.
Punch the dough down, and form it into dinner roll balls (like about 3-4”)
Place on a greased baking tray, cover with a damp cloth and allow to rise again until doubled.
Bake in a preheated oven at 400 degrees for about 15 - 20 minutes.
